Landrace Pig

A globally recognized commercial breed—introduced to South Africa from Denmark—valued for its lean frame, extended body, and exceptional bacon and pork production. Landrace sows are prolific and highly maternal.

Characteristics:

  • Long-bodied, white coat with drooping ears

  • Superior fertility: litters of 10–14 piglets

  • Excellent mothering and feed conversion

  • Fine-grain meat, heavy loins and hams, minimal fat

  • Usually calm, handleable temperament suitable for both pasture and confinement systems

Boars: 226-318 kg ; Sows: 204-272 kg

Duroc Pig

Developed in the United States, the Duroc is known for its reddish coat, robust build, and outstanding meat quality. Often used as a terminal sire for crossbreeding programs due to its fast growth and marbled, flavorful pork.
